We are from Australia and went overseas to visit our families in two different countries, we had 12 days spare time in between and decided to go to Mali, we had not planned anything. The only thing we knew was that there was a Music festival around that same time North of Toumbouctou.

We arrived late at night into our Hotel in Bamako (this was the only thing we had booked) and that same night we met Bouba and we spoke in lenght about going to the Concert in Essakane. After one day we booked a tour of 11 days with him, he gave us very good information how to spend our 11 days. I also mentioned to him to I am very interested in photography and that it was important for me to stop the car when I needed, which was no problem. He arranged the transport, the concert, the food, tents, blankets, the boat, anything we needed all on schedule, after the concert we did a 3 day Niger River trip and all was really good arranged. I find Bouba a very pleasant person to travel with and we trusted him a 100%. I really recommend Bouba as your guide and enjoy your time in Mali.

Whilst travelling in Mali I visited Essakane, Tombuctou, Mopti, Djenne, Dogon Country, Segou and Bamako. Cisse is an extremely attentive guide and considerate of each individuals travellers needs. He is the perfect guide for those wanting to have a truely memorable experience of Mali, from Taureg campments in the Desert to hustle of Bamako.

Cisse is also a Friendly and extremely interesting person, his knowledge of various Malian cultures and traditions will no doubt interest you and help you understand the country. He can take care of all the plans for your journey leaving you free to relax and experience the beauty of Mali and the people. He is a very honest guide and his advice is based on knowledge and experience of the country, wellknown in many regions, you are guaranteed to have a great experience in Africa with Cisse.

In 2007 I spent three weeks traveling in Mali with Boubacar as my personal guide. I was particularly interested in having an authentic experience and wanted to visit interesting places that I could photograph. I could not have been more pleased with his choices: Mopti, Djenne, a boat ride up the Niger River to Timbuktu, overnight in a Tuareg encampment, several days in Dogon country and finally a week in and around Segou. He is well informed and very honest. I recommend him without reservation.

This is to highly recommend Mr Boubacar Cissé of Timbuktu as a guide for any round-trip in Mali that you may plan to undertake.

I had the pleasure or travelling in his company in Mali during a week, in the month of January in 2006. Mr Cissé – to whom I was referred via a crew of the Malian Television – took me from Timbuktu to Mopti, Djenné, Ségou, and Bamako. He organized the entire trip, as of travelling (with jeep, boat, car, and bus), lodging and the visits I was making in my capacity of a traveling freelance journalist. He also interpreted my interviews.

According to my experience, Mr Cissé –who speaks French, English, Arabic and four Malian languages–is, despite of his relative youth, very capable of adjusting to each traveller’s need, and organize a tailor-made trip. He is very knowledgeable not only about his native Timbuktu, but about all of Mali, and he also has valuable contacts in every place you may come to.

Moreover, Mr Cissé is a reliable and honest person, who does his best to accomodate various needs and budgets. He is also pleasant to travel with, and I would not hesitate to assign him for future journeys in Mali myself – whether as a tourist guide or as a “fixer”.

...aunque contratamos el alquiler de un 4x4 en Bamako, a través de una agencia, no resulto muy bien: tuvimos bastantes problemas. A pesar de todo, tuvimos la suerte de conocer a Boubacar y nos ayudó a solucionar todos los problemas que surgieron a lo largo de nuestra estancia. El nos acompañó al País Dogón, Mopti, Ségou y Bamako, y nos ensenó todos los lugares interesantes para ver en estos sitios. Además siempre se adaptó a lo que nosotros queríamos: hoteles, restaurantes, visitas, etc. Es un guía excelente, no solo por su conocimiento de Mali, sino por su capacidad de solucionar problemas y por su entrega como persona: su máxima preocupación es que sus clientes estén contentos, es muy honesto y se puede confiar en él plenamente.
